Der Fokus von GENIOS ist die Verbindung von regionalen deutschen und internationalen Informationsinhalten vorwiegend in den Bereichen Wirtschaft, Presse und Unternehmensdaten. GENIOS ist eine Abteilung der Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt GmbH und eng verbunden mit ECONOMY.ONE GmbH, dem Online-Arm vom Handelsblatt-Verlag. Flaggschiff ist die Datenbank der führenden deutschen Wirtschaftszeitung "Handelsblatt"; weitere 900 Datenbanken sind im Angebot, darunter auch Quellen von Factiva und Financial Times. Die eigenen Quellen (sowie einige weitere) wertet GENIOS intellektuell mittels eines eigenen Dokumentationswerkzeuges aus. Das Retrievalsystem ist einfach und spricht sowohl Information Professionals als auch Laien an.

GENIOS is a department of Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt GmbH and bound up with ECONOMY. ONE GmbH, which is the online distributor of the publishing house Handelsblatt. Flagship is the database of the leading German business newspaper "Handelsblatt". GENIOS offers 900 databases, which includes sources by Factiva and Financial Times. Sources from Handelsblatt Verlag (and some other) are intellectually indexed. The retrieval system is simple in use and addresses information professionals and novices, too.
