With four professorships in linguistics, one professorship in computational linguistics, and additional linguistics professorships at other institutes, we are one of the best places in Germany to study linguistics.
Our lecturers actively conduct research on topics that are discussed internationally. We actively integrate our findings, as well as our laboratories and research equipment, into our teaching.
We use a variety of different methods, such as field research, experiments, and corpus analysis, including statistical and qualitative evaluation.
Our newly designed study programs are optimized to systematically introduce students to all important areas of expertise, thereby ensuring that they graduate confidently and successfully.
Multilingualism is not only a subject of research for us, but also a lived reality. In addition to German, English is also used in our courses. Many other languages play a role in the everyday lives of the institute's members.
We have partnerships with various international universities, including in Sweden, Spain, Malta, and Türkiye.
Our research staff represent a wide range of different areas of specialization, such as phonetics, neurolinguistics, language documentation, semantics, and morphology.
The institute's secretariat is the reliable point of contact for expert information on all questions relating to studying, and for cookies.
The linguistics library is located in the same building as our seminar rooms, offering excellent specialist support, a well-stocked collection of literature, and comfortable workspaces.
