DIMDI. Eine deutsche Informationsbehörde für Gesundheit und Medizin.
Das Deutsche Institut für Medizinische Dokumentation und Information ist seit 1969 eine Behörde im Geschäftsbereich des Bundesgesundheitsministeriums (heute BMGS). Seine Aufgaben sind durch Gesetz und Erlasse festgeschrieben. DIMDI bietet rund 30 Datenbanken kostenfrei als inhaltlichen Universaldienst an. Insgesamt liegen rund 70 Datenbanken auf. Neben medizinischen Literaturdatenbanken sind Faktendatenbanken, vor allem zu Arzneimitteln und Toxikologie, abfragbar. DIMDI ist für die deutschsprachigen Fassungen internationaler Dokumentationswerkzeuge wie die ICD oder MeSH zuständig. Unsere Tests konzentrieren sich auf die grips-WebSearch. Die Stärken, Schwächen, Chancen und Risiken DIMDIs auf dem deutschen Informationsmarkt werden analysiert.

The German Institute for Medical Documentation and Information (DIMDI) is a governmental office and belongs to the Federal Ministry of Health since 1969. Its tasks are fixed by laws and decrees. DIMDI offers about 30 databases without any fees in the sense of universal services with regard to the content. Altogether there are about 70 database. Searchable are medical literature databases and factual databases (especially drug information and toxicology). DIMDI is responsible for the German versions of international documentation tools like ICD or MeSH. In our tests, we focus on grips-WebSearch. The article analyses strenghts, weaknesses, threats and risks of DIMDI concerning the German information market.
